I’ve been riding from Herter park east along the river into Cambridge. However, I’ve not found a great route to get from the river to Central square. The main way that I would drive is along River St which is a straight shot but it’s a two lane road in one direction with very little shoulder and cars go pretty fast. Any suggestions?

I’m thinking there must be a good spot to take a left away from the river before that and snake through the neighborhood, and I’ve tried a few but I seem to end up in a very inefficient labyrinth of one way streets! Google maps sends me on the busy roads so I’m hoping an experienced cyclist knows the real tricks.
